Showcase at APAP|NYC 2024

Performance showcases are among the highlights of the APAP|NYC conference and where performing arts professionals can discover world-class arts of all genres and disciplines!

Showcases are independently produced by APAP members in venues across New York City and on-demand after the conference. APAP itself does not produce, curate or jury showcases.

Note: The information listed on this page is from the 2024 conference. Please feel free to use the information as a guide and reference to learn more about the conference. More details about the 2025 conference will be share in late spring 2024.

Attending Showcases

APAP|NYC conference registrants have access to the hundreds of in-person showcases that take place as early as a day or two before the conference opens until the last day of the conference.

You can use the official APAP Showcase Listings (available in the online conference platform, Swapcard, beginning in November) to find and discover artists of all genres and to plan your conference experience.

This fall, we hosted "How to APAP: Showcasing 101". Watch the replay below.

Producing Showcases

Who showcases?

Artists, agents, and producers put on hundreds of showcases as part of the APAP|NYC conference. To produce a showcase, you must be an APAP member or an artist on the roster of an APAP member and be registered for the conference. (Student registrants are not eligible to showcase.)

Should I showcase?

Here are factors for you to consider when deciding to showcase. You should have:

  • Work that has high artistic integrity.
  • A budget and plan to cover your expenses.
  • A network of presenters who are interested in your work.
  • Managerial and administrative capacity to solicit and follow up with presenters.

In-Person Showcasing: Choosing a venue

As APAP does not curate showcases, you will need to secure a venue when planning your in-person showcase. There are two options, you can:

  1. Book your own venue outside of the Hilton. Showcase producers are responsible for coordinating performance times and logistics directly with the venue. Use this showcase venue guide to contact outside venues and plan your showcase. This information is subject to change and should be verified with each venue.
  2. Purchase a showcase slot/slots in the Hilton from an APAP showcase producer. If you are interested in showcasing at the Hilton, email apapnyc@apap365.org.

On-Demand Showcasing

After January 16, on-demand showcases will be available to view on our online platform. These may be in-person showcases that were recorded or pre-recorded showcases.

Promoting Showcases and Purchasing Showcase Listings

Once you have planned your showcase, consider these ways to drive audiences to your event.

Purchase a Showcase Listing

Showcase listings are the easiest way to promote your performance. Showcase listings live in our online platform and provide information about the artists, date, time, and location of showcases, as well as how attendees can RSVP for in-person showcases.

  • You can purchase showcase listings when you register. (You will receive an email with the link to create your showcase listings after you purchase your listings.) If you have already registered, you may also purchase listings by emailing us with the subject line "Showcase Listing Purchase Request" at apapnyc@apap365.org.
  • You must be a registered conference attendee to purchase a listing.
  • Showcase listings are $10 each. Each listing represents a single performance.

Best Practices for Using Attendee Lists

Once you have registered for conference, you'll have access to segmented lists of APAP|NYC registrants. These dynamically updated lists contain valuable information including each attendee's role in the field. Be sure to use these lists wisely by targeting people likely to be interested in your showcase(s).

APAP will make these lists available to conference registrants starting in July 2023.

Scam Advisory: Marketing Lists

As an APAP|NYC attendee, you may receive emails from third parties claiming to have lists of conference attendees. They may also lead you to believe they are associated with APAP. These are fraudulent scams, and we urge you to not respond or participate in any way.

If you have questions, contact APAP directly at 202.833.2787 or apapnyc@apap365.org.
