APAP has just launched a community on StoryCorps (pronounced "Story-core"), an oral storytelling platform whose mission it is "to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world". Through this community, APAP aims to archive the stories of the performing arts presenting, booking and touring industry.

About this project

During this transformative time, our community of performing arts professionals---artists, agents, producers, venue operators, event presenters, and promoters---are taking stock of who we were, who we are, and who we hope to become.

In the APAP community on StoryCorps, we're asking performing arts workers---whether emerging or seasoned professionals---to talk to each other about their personal experiences working in the arts.

Forever archived in the Library of Congress, this project will provide historians a snapshot of what it was like to work in the performing arts at this time. Learn more about StoryCorps here.

How to contribute your story

Find a colleague, friend or loved one to have a conversation.
If you haven't already, create an account on StoryCorps Connect. (If you are meeting in person, you can use the StoryCorps App.)
Establish the questions you want to ask and why you want to record a story together. Do you and that person have a shared experience you want to document? Are you interested in interviewing each other? Or are you interested in capturing a story the other person has? ***Be sure to review the APAP suggested question list in the APAP community on StoryCorps.***
Coordinate with that person a time to record and determine how to record. The StoryCorps website has lots of guidance on how to use StoryCorps Connect (if you are recording remotely) or the StoryCorps App (if you are recording in person). Decide which one of you will be in charge of recording.
When you are ready, RECORD!
Once you are done, make sure you and your recording partner are comfortable with making the recording available on the StoryCorps Archive.
Save your recording.
Share and archive your recording. Set your privacy settings according to what you and your partner agree upon.
To add your story to the APAP community, click "Join" in the APAP StoryCorps community or use the community code: APAPMEMBERSTORIES. (You are not required to be an APAP member to submit your story, but we hope you will join us!)

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
